Overall, this is a great little Short Trip with a compelling plot and an interesting, thought-provoking ending. This means that Master Thief is constantly gripping, and so the 40 minute runtime just flies by. The plot can be a little slow at times, but it’s a nice change of pace from some of Big Finish‘s more frenetic, fast-paced audios, and it’s great that we follow the Master’s quest pretty much in real-time, never cutting away or jumping forwards in time. Culshaw does a fine job of bringing Iles’ prose to life, not only narrating the story with flair, but also adopting an uncanny impression of Roger Delgado when reading the Master’s lines. The story itself is narrated by Jon Culshaw, and sees the Master (as played by the late Roger Delgado) infiltrate the Repository, one of the most secure vaults in the universe, in search of something very important. Here’s hoping we get more stories from her soon!
